Veteran Affairs announces scam targeting veterans



Scammers have developed yet another way to trick people out of their hard-earned money, this time targeting veterans.

According to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, a fake phone line has been created that mimics the phone number already established for the Veterans Choice Program.

The correct number for the VA’s Veterans Choice Program is 1(866)606-8198, but people who inadvertently dial 1(800) in an attempt to reach the Veterans Choice Program are reportedly offered a $100 rebate if the caller provides a credit card number.

Under no circumstances should credit card information be provided over the phone to the Veterans Choice Program.
